Kilts
Scotland's national dress, the kilt was developed
from roughly woven cloth, colored with dyes from the local vegetation.
Early Highlanders wrapped themselves in these 'blanket style'
materials, and in time added distinct color patterns in plaid
designs, to signify their individual group, or clan. The Great
Kilt represents this early and practical garment. Wool was the
preferred cloth, keeping its wearer cool in the summer and warm
in the winter.
Today, both gents and ladies enjoy wearing the traditional
Great Kilt, which is most popular at
Renaissance and Medieval Festivals, and Re-enactment gatherings.
The Formal Dress Kilt has won great
popularity over the last 200 years, reflecting more modern styles
of the day.

Great Kilt
This Pre-19th century kilt style, is especially
popular at Renaissance Festivals and historic re-enactment

unique Highland Secrets design has the kilt pleats sewn
into the fabric. It also includes a sewn in belt channel
allowing the wearer the advantage of putting the kilt on
from a standing position within 2 minutes. This unique design
enables our Great Kilt to be properly worn and magnificently
displayed. This style kilt is equally attractive on both
gents and ladies.

Wee Kilt (Philabeg)
This very popular and affordable kilt is made by Suzanne in various wool plaids. It is pleated and belted at the waist, as is the Great Kilt, but has no plaid to go over the shoulder. The pleated waist is draped over its belt approximately 3 1/2 inches. This gives the Wee Kilt a unique, yet historically accurate style to a kilt that pre-dates the Formal Dress Kilt in the 19th Century.
